Zimbabwe registered a win over Sri Lanka to finish the group stage at the top of Group B in the 2026 T20 World Cup, while West Indies and Afghanistan also registered wins on day 13 of the tournament. Here are the standings after Thursday's three matches.
T20 World Cup 2026: Day 13 recap
West Indies vs Italy
West Indies registered what was, in the end, a simple win over Italy to close out the action in Group C. Batting first, they reached 165-6 off their 20 overs, with Shai Hope top-scoring with 75 off 46. In response, Italy faltered to 123 all-out, cleaned up by Shamar Joseph's 4-30. It was Matthew Forde who made West Indies' initial inroads, however, castling Justin Mosca in his opening over and finishing with figures of 3-19 off his four overs.
Zimbabwe vs Sri Lanka
The top of the table crunch in Group B provided the most thrilling action of the day, with Zimbabwe toppling Sri Lanka to claim top spot. Pathum Nissanka once again led the charge for Sri Lanka, scoring 62 off 41. But Sri Lanka's middle order and tail were blown away by Brad Evans and Blessings Muzarabani, and they were not able to accelerate towards the end of their innings.
Chasing 179, Brian Bennett spearheaded the chase from the top, finishing unbeaten on 63 and hitting the winning runs in the final over. Although the result won't affect which Super Eight group Zimbabwe end up in, it does continue their best-ever run in the competition.
Afghanistan vs Canada
Afghanistan were already confirmed as out of the competition ahead of their final group match against Canada, meaning that this would be head coach Jonathan Trott's last at the helm. It was a dominating performance from Afghanistan, who put 200 on the board, with Ibrahim Zadran finishing the innings unbeaten five runs short of a century.
Canada plodded to 118-8 in reply, with Mohammed Nabi finishing with extraordinary figures of 4-7 off four overs, with an economy rate of 1.75.
