Pakistan won the third T20I to clinch the series against South Africa 2-1, while India beat Australia in the third T20I to fight back in their five-match series. Here’s how the results affected the ICC T20I team rankings.
Babar Azam takes Pakistan to series win; India fight back against Australia
Pakistan won the third T20I against South Africa in Lahore to seal the series 2-1. Babar Azam scored 68 off 47 balls to help the hosts chase down 140 with four wickets and an over remaining. The match was set up for Pakistan by Shaheen Afridi’s 3-26.
Babar, returning to the T20I side after nearly a year, fell for a duck in the first match and scored 11 not out in the second. Having entered the series in questionable form, this knock would bring him a sigh of relief.
At Bellerive Oval, India put up a commendable show in the third match to level the series 1-1, with two games still to be played. Batting first, Australia made 186-6, with Arshdeep Singh (3-35) proving to be the tourists' most effective bowler. India gunned down the target with five wickets in hand, thanks to an unbeaten 49 off 23 balls from Washington Sundar, who hit three fours and four sixes.
