India and South Africa face off for a two-match Test series starting November 14: here are the updated ICC men's Test team rankings ahead of the IND vs SA series.
The series opener will be played from November 14 in Eden Gardens, Kolkata, marking the venue's return to India’s Test calendar for the first time since 2019, when India beat Bangladesh by an innings in the first pink-ball Test match hosted in the country.
The two teams last played a Test at this venue in 2010, when a five-wicket haul from Harbhajan Singh in the fourth innings helped India level the series after trailing 0-1. That match is also remembered for Hashim Amla's twin hundreds (114 & 123 not out), albeit in a losing cause.
