PBKS beat CSK by four wickets in today's IPL 2025 match in Chennai. Here is the updated IPL points table after the Chennai vs Punjab game.
Being put into bat after losing the toss, CSK made a typically slow start to the powerplay, scoring 48 runs and losing three wickets. Sam Curran and Dewald Brevis then resurrected the innings, stitching 78 for the fourth wicket. Curran threatened to reach three figures at one point but was dismissed for 88 off 47 in the 18th over. Yuzvendra Chahal came on to bowl the 19th over and took MS Dhoni's wicket after being hit for a six first ball. He then finished the over with a hat-trick, breaking multiple records in the process as CSK were bowled out for 190.

The PBKS top three ensured they got a good platform to seal the chase. Priyansh Arya (23 off 15), Prabhsimran Singh (54 off 36), and captain Shreyas Iyer (72 off 41) did the bulk of the scoring. Despite a mini-collapse towards the end which saw PBKS go from 180-3 to 190-6, they were able to finish off the chase comfortably in the final over.

The defeat officially knocked CSK out of the play-offs race as they can only get to a maximum of 12 points even if they win every game from here. Punjab meanwhile, leapfrogged to the second spot on the points table with 13 points from 10 games.
