The IPL 2026 longlist features 1,355 names. Glenn Maxwell is not among them.

The IPL 2026 auction will take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16, 2025. Between them, the ten franchises can acquire a maximum of 77 slots including 31 overseas players.

According to an ESPNcricinfo report, a total of 1,355 cricketers have signed up for the auction. Based on the wishlists of all ten franchises by December 5, the IPL committee will release a shortlist from these 1,355.

Three notable omissions among the IPL superstars are Andre Russell, Faf du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell. Ahead of the auction, Russell announced his retirement from the league. The Kolkata Knight Riders, for whom he had a long-standing fruitful career, have appointed him as their “power coach”.

Du Plessis announced that he will be playing in the PSL, which usually has an overlap with the IPL. Maxwell, on the other hand, made the “big call” of not registering for the IPL 2026 auction.

According to the same report, 45 cricketers have set a base price of INR 2 crore (the highest). These include two Indians, Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi, who have been released by the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Lucknow Super Giants, respectively.

An injury had forced Cameron Green to opt out of IPL 2025, but he will be back this time. Since he has resumed bowling, it is expected that he will be at the centre of intense bidding.
