Sri Lanka left-arm seamer Binura Fernando missed Nottinghamshire's T20 Blast Finals Day after being ruled out with a hand injury, but featured for Colombo Kaps in the Lanka Premier League on the same day.

Fernando was left out of Nottinghamshire's 15-man squad for Finals Day after injuring his left hand when a drive from Laurie Evans struck him during the side's quarter-final victory over Surrey. James Hayes was named as his replacement.

However, while Nottinghamshire took on Hampshire in the second semi-final at Edgbaston, Fernando was in action elsewhere. The 30-year-old was named in Colombo Kaps' XI for their Lanka Premier League opener against Galle Gallants, slotting in at No. 9.

Fernando had joined Nottinghamshire earlier this month for the remainder of their Blast campaign after Mohammad Ali departed for Pakistan's Test tour of the Caribbean. He featured in three matches, claiming five wickets at an average of 19.40.

The 6ft 6in left-armer has represented Sri Lanka in 29 internationals since making his debut in 2015, taking two wickets in four ODIs and 24 in 25 T20Is. His most recent international appearance came in a T20I against Zimbabwe in September last year.

Wisden.com has contacted Nottinghamshire for clarification regarding Fernando's availability.

At the time of writing, Hampshire had reached 187-3 in the second Blast semi-final. Nottinghamshire lost George Munsey for 15 inside the opening three overs of the chase. Meanwhile, Fernando was yet to make an impact with either bat or ball in the LPL fixture.
