New Zealand took a 1-0 lead in the three-Test series after defeating the West Indies by nine wickets at Wellington. Here is how the World Test Championship table stands after the result.
After salvaging a draw in the first Test match, the West Indies batting faltered in the second, at Wellington, as New Zealand romped to a nine-wicket win inside three days.
Blair Tickner (4-32) and Michael Rae (3-66) bowled out the visitors for 205 – no one got a fifty – before Tickner was ruled out of the rest of the Test with a shoulder injury. Devon Conway (60) and debutant Mitchell Hay (61) then gave the hosts a 73-run lead as Anderson Phillip returned 3-70.
In the second innings, the West Indies were bowled out for only 128 as Jacob Duffy claimed 5-38 and Rae 3-45. New Zealand took only 10 overs to get the 56 runs they needed.
