Somerset prodigies James and Thomas Rew combined to score a match-winning hundred and fifty respectively in their One-Day Cup clash against Middlesex on August 6.
Choosing to field first, Somerset were set a target of 290 after fifites from Joshua de Caires (71) and Jack Davies (64) propelled Middlesex to 289-7 in 50 overs. Jake Ball (3-43) and Jack Leach (3-47) took three wickets apiece.
James and Thomas Rew star for Somerset
Somerset openers Tom Lammonby (38) and Archie Vaughan (18) got off to starts but couldn't convert them into big scores. James Rew, who has a sublime first-class record and had recently earned a call-up to the England Test side for the Zimbabwe Test, entered the chase at No.4 with the score at 81-2.

He stitched a 50-run partnership with Lewis Goldsworthy (38), after which he was joined by his 17-year-old bother Thomas Rew. Thomas featured in England U19s' series against India U19 recently and made his senior T20 debut in the Blast earlier this season. This game was the second of his List A career, but first for Middlesex, having played for First-Class Counties XI against Pakistan Shaheens on July 27, 2025.
The two brothers added 107 for the fourth wicket, taking Somerset to 238-3 when Thomas was dismissed for 51 off 54 balls in the 41st over. James then carried on, reaching his third List A hundred and completing the chase unbeaten on 106 off 90 balls, with six wickets and 2.3 overs remaining.
This was the first time the two brothers batted together in professional cricket, capping the occasion off with a match-winning century stand in a stiff run-chase.
Thomas is yet to make his first-class debut, but James has played 53 matches in the longer format so far, making 3199 runs at 42.09 with as many as 11 centuries to his name. Aged 21, Rew became the youngest player from England since Denis Compton in 1939 years to score ten first-class hundreds, when he took Somerset to a brilliant, come-from-behind win in the 2025 County Championship.
