Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq continued his blistering start to the One-Day Cup even as the national team struggled against the West Indies on Tuesday (August 12).

Imam-ul-Haq scores second consecutive One-Day Cup century

Yorkshire's third match of the 2025 One-Day Cup saw them take on Roses rivals Lancashire at home. Home skipper Dom Bess won the toss and asked the visitors to bat. Lancashire posted 294-7, courtesy of opener Michael Jones's 102, and George Balderson's rapid 70, off 48 balls.

Yorkshire lost Adam Lyth for five in the seventh over of their chase, but Imam-ul-Haq and William Luxton then put on 153 for the second wicket before Luxton was dismissed for 77.

In the 35th over of the innings, Imam pulled Tom Bailey for six over square leg to bring up a century, off 119 balls. Two overs later, he mistimed a pull off spinner Arav Shetty to depart caught, for 117. With Yorkshire still needing another 75 to win at that point, James Wharton and Matthew Revis (each 41 not out) took them over the line.

This was Imam's second century in a row, following his career-best List A score of 159 against Northants last time out. His debut for Yorkshire, after coming in as a last-minute replacement for India batter Ruturaj Gaikwad, saw him score 55.

With three wins out of three, Yorkshire sit atop Group B in the One-Day Cup.

Pakistan collapse hours after Imam's century

Imam played his first ODI for nearly 18 months, when he was named in the XI to take on India in the Champions Trophy earlier this year. He was also picked for the tour of New Zealand in April, where he scored three and one, retiring hurt in the latter.

He did not find a spot in the squad for the ongoing tour of the West Indies, and as it happened, his knock against Lancashire came just hours before Pakistan suffered an almighty collapse.

Chasing 295 (coincidentally, the same target set that Yorkshire chased), Pakistan openers Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique both made ducks as Jayden Seales ran through the lineup to take 6-18, helping bowl the visitors out for 92 and consigning them to a 202-run loss, their fourth-worst in ODIs.
