Watch: Derbyshire's Zak Chappell suffered an unlucky dismissal off the final ball of a One-Day Cup fixture on Wednesday (August 20), which resulted in a tie.
Leicestershire hosted Derbyshire at Grace Road on Wednesday, and visiting skipper Brooke Guest elected to field first after winning the toss. Leicestershire made 312-5, powered by Rishi Patel (94) and Lewis Hill (93), who shared a 166-run second-wicket stand. A late flourish came from Peter Handscomb (35) and Ben Cox (35*).
Derbyshire's chase got off to a promising start as openers Caleb Jewell and Harry Came put on 81 in 12.4 overs. Came was the top scorer in the innings with 67, but other vital contributions came from Matthew Montgomery (47) and Anuj Dal (45).
No.8 Zak Chappell had come in at 233-6 in the 40th over, and held the chase together with Dal until Derbyshire lost a flurry of wickets. With 14 needed off nine balls, Zak Morley holed out to leave them nine down, and hand 18-year-old Alex Green a five-for.

With 14 needed off the last over, Chappell hit the first three balls for six, two and four to move to 49. A wide followed to bring the scores level. Bowler Tom Scriven then managed to eke out a couple of dot balls, bringing the equation to one off one.
Chappell swung at the final ball which bounced to hip height, but missed as it thudded into his thigh pad. Non-striker Rory Haydon was tearing down the wicket to snatch a leg-bye, and Chappell also took off as quickly as he could.

But as he left the crease, Chappell's bat slipped out of his left hand, and fell right in his path, tripping him up. He hit the deck halfway through the run, and was well short of his ground as keeper Cox collected the ball and lobbed it to the non-striker's end, where Shan Masood took off the bails and tied the game.
The result means Leicestershire and Derbyshire remain in sixth and seventh place in Group A, respectively.
