The PSL ended on Sunday (May 25), with Lahore Qalandars winning their third title in four seasons - here’s Wisden’s team of the tournament for 2025.
Sahibzada Farhan (Islamabad United)
449 runs @ 37.41, SR: 152.20
Initially not selected by any team for the 2025 PSL, Farhan came in as a late replacement for Islamabad United and ended up as the leading run-scorer in the tournament. He was one of two batters to score more than 400 runs, and struck at over 150 in six of his 12 innings. His hundred against Peshawar Zalmi, off 52 balls, helped Islamabad to a total of 243/5, paving the way for a massive win.
Mohammad Naeem (Lahore Qalandars)
314 runs @ 26.16, SR: 162.69
The biggest find of the PSL, Naeem, played some fearless knocks, including one in the final. Chasing 202 for a win, he gave his team a blazing start, making 46 in 27 deliveries. Each of the four times he crossed 45 in the tournament, he struck above 165.
Rillee Rossouw (Quetta Gladiators)
272 runs @ 34, SR: 178.94
No other batter made more runs at a better strike rate than Rossouw in the tournament. He crossed fifty just once this season, when he made a 46-ball 104 against Islamabad, but played some quickfire innings consistently.
Hasan Nawaz (Quetta Gladiators)
399 runs @ 57, SR: 162.19
Along with Rossouw, Nawaz proved to be another dangerous middle-order player for Quetta. He started off the season slowly, but turned it around, making four sixty-plus scores in his last five innings, including an unbeaten hundred against Islamabad. Nawaz made 76 in 43 balls in the final, but it was not enough.
Kusal Perera (Lahore Qalandars)
170 runs @ 56.66, SR: 173.46
Perera played just four games, after the PSL resumed, but left an instant mark. He scored 17 (8) in his first innings for Qalandars and then made 30 in 24 in the Eliminator, when the side needed a batter to hold one end up. He struck two sixties in the second qualifier and the final and remained unbeaten in the summit clash, scoring at a strike rate of 200 as Lahore chased down 202 to win the title.
Sam Billings (Lahore Qalandars)
161 runs @ 26.83, SR: 185.05
Billings had the highest strike rate in the 2025 PSL among batters who made at least 150 runs. His best knock was an unbeaten 50 off 19 deliveries, at a strike rate of 263.15. He also played cameos of 19 of 10 and 43 off 23. Such was his impact that he continued topping the strike rate charts despite not returning for the resumption.
Sikandar Raza (Lahore Qalandars)
254 runs @ 42.33, SR: 169.33
10 wickets @ 17.20, ER: 7.75
The Qalandars were desperate to have Raza back for the final, and it showed why. The best all-rounder in the competition, Raza, turned the game around more often than not, including the final, where his unbeaten 22 runs in seven balls won Lahore yet another title.
Shadab Khan (Islamabad United)
14 wickets @ 16.57, ER: 7.90
173 runs @ 24.71, SR: 155.85
Shadab, who had a disastrous tour of New Zealand earlier this year, marked a strong turnaround in the PSL, proving to be effective in the middle overs. He picked up 11 wickets in overs 7-15, and was also handy with the bat, the highlight of which was a 19-ball 42, which came in the crucial game against Karachi Kings, where a win ensured Islamabad finished in the top two.
Shaheen Afridi (Lahore Qalandars)
19 wickets @ 16.42, ER: 7.76
Shaheen shone as captain in the season, as he guided his team to their third title in four seasons. The left-armer, who has not been picked in the recent T20I squad against Bangladesh, was the leading wicket-taker in the PSL this year. His best spell was in the second qualifier, where he ended with 3-3 in 3.1 overs, following it up with another three-for in the final.
Mohammad Amir (Quetta Gladiators)
13 wickets @ 18.07, ER: 7.79
Among pacers, only Shaheen picked more wickets at a lower economy rate than Amir, who had his best PSL season in five years. He went wicketless in just two of his nine games this season, and bowled with an economy rate below seven on six occasions.
Abbas Afridi (Karachi Kings)
17 wickets @ 23.52, ER: 10.25
Abbas was sharp and consistent and was dependable in the death overs. He picked up seven wickets between overs 16-20 at a strike rate of 9.43 and gave away only four sixes in this phase - the fewest among all bowlers who sent down at least 10 overs in the death.
