Sharjeel Khan lit up his PSL comeback with a 26-ball 51 not out for Hyderabad Kingsmen against Multan Sultans at Lahore.
Sharjeel Khan dazzles on PSL comeback
Sharjeel’s last franchise cricket appearance was in PSL 2023, for Karachi Kings, for whom he had been playing since 2020. He also had a prior stint for the Islamabad United. Since then, he has played in all three editions of the National T20 Cup as well as in the 2024/25 Champions T20 Cup in Pakistan.
For the 2026 PSL, he was picked up by Hyderabad Kingsmen, one of the two new teams of this edition (along with Rawalpindiz). After losing their first two games, HK picked Sharjeel for the third, marking his comeback after three years.
An early onslaught from Maaz Sadaqat (62 in 26 balls) pushed HK to 74-1 after the powerplay. Sharjeel walked out when Maaz fell, at 98-2 in the 10th over. He did not get much strike early in the innings, facing only six balls by the time the 14th over began.
In the 14th over, he smashed Mohammad Nawaz for four through mid-wicket and a straight six, but did not find the boundary for the next three overs. His score read 22 in 16 balls when Shehzad Gul began the 18th over.
Gul began with a high full-toss (called a no-ball), which Sharjeel dispatched over fine-leg for six. He on-drove the free-hit for a six as well. When Gul bowled another high full-toss, Sharjeel hit a four, this time over deep point, and promptly sent the free-hit ball for six over deep mid-wicket. He lofted the last ball over mid-off for four to complete a 30-run over, off which he took 27.
By now, Sharjeel had raced to 49 off 23 balls, but he faced only two more balls in the innings. He picked up two singles from these to finish on 51 not out off 26 balls. This was Sharjeel’s seventh fifty-plus score in the PSL: these include two hundreds.
Kingsmen Hyderabad finished with 225-5, the highest score in their brief history till date. At the time of writing, Multan Sultans were 100-0 off seven overs.
