Players and officials in the Pakistan Super League will wear pink caps and ribbons today. Here's why.
PSL dedicates April 16 to breast cancer awareness
On Thursday morning (April 16), the Pakistan Cricket Board released a statement dedicating the day to raise awareness about breast cancer, an initiative that is now into its eighth consecutive season of the PSL.
"The HBL PSL and PCB have organised the Pink Day in partnership with the Pink Ribbon Hospital in Lahore, which is Pakistan’s first Breast Cancer Charity Hospital," said the release. "The PCB and Pink Ribbon Hospital have also arranged free of cost screening for women from 13 to 18 April in Lahore.
"The Pink Day will include a brace of activities and initiatives at the National Bank Stadium. All the players of the four teams in action today, the match officials, the PCB officials, the team owners will wear pink caps and ribbons.
"The stumps and the graphics on HBL PSL’s digital and broadcast will have a special pink theme. At 8pm PKT, the Pakistan Cricket fraternity is set to come together to share their messages and thoughts regarding the Breast Care Awareness on X using the official hashtag of the day #GoPink. The fans are also encouraged to express their views and thoughts regarding the Pink Day using the official hashtag."
As part of the initiative this year, Pakistan internationals Syeda Aroob Shah, Rameen Shamim and Muneeba Ali, as well as captain Fatima Sana were also invited to train with the PSL teams pre-match.
