Multan Sultans' Sahibzada Farhan moved to joint-fourth on an all-time list during his knock against Hyderabad Kingsmen in the PSL on Wednesday (April 1).
Sahibzada Farhan stars in massive Multan Sultans run chase
In match eight of the 2026 season, Hyderabad elected to bat first against Multan, getting off to a blistering start thanks to Saim Ayub and Maaz Sadaqat, who put on 59 in 5.1 overs. Sadaqat went on to make a thoroughly entertaining 62 off 26 before holing out off Mohammad Nawaz. Cameos down the order around a rapid half-century from Sharjeel Khan (51* off 26) took them to a challenging 225-5.
Multan came out of the blocks rapidly with Farhan and Steve Smith. The pair blasted 83 in the powerplay before the former completed a seventh PSL half-century off 25 balls. Smith departed to 46 off 20 with the team score reading 104-1 in 8.1 overs.
Josh Philippe came and went, but Shan Masood started slowly but took Ayub for 16 runs in the 14th over. Farhan continued to score quickly even as Masood and then skipper Ashton Turner departed. Arafat Minhas came in and hit 25 off 10 to bring the equation down to seven off 12 balls. Farhan, on 99 at that point, duly completed a second PSL century with a single, before eventually hitting Mohammad Ali for six to seal the game, and the fifth-highest run chase in PSL history, with eight balls to spare.
This was the ninth century of Farhan's T20 career, taking him to joint-fourth on the all-time list, tied with Virat Kohli and Rilee Rossouw. David Warner has 10, while Babar Azam and Chris Gayle have 11 and 22 respectively.
Farhan is also the second-fastest to nine T20 centuries after Gayle. The Jamaican got there in 127 innings, and Farhan has reached the mark in 160. No one else has scored nine centuries in fewer than 200 innings.
