Who were the top performers in QG vs KRK, PZ vs LQ?
Karachi Kings started brilliantly against Quetta Gladiators, with Hasan Ali reducing them to 2-1 in his opening over by removing both Shamyl Hussain and Khawaja Nafay. However, Rilee Rossouw scored a crucial 90 off 54 balls, while captain Saud Shakeel scored a half-century in a 147-run partnership. Despite falling away towards the end of the innings, Quetta posted 195 on the board to set the Kings a steep chase.
However, the Kings aced it with a huge partnership between David Warner and Reeza Hendricks, who finished unbeaten on 89 and 87, respectively. They completed the chase with nine balls to spare.
In the second game, a 94-run partnership between Michael Bracewell and Babar Azam rescued Peshawar's innings after they were reduced to 36-2 in the powerplay. Bracewell top-scored with 83 off 45 balls, while Babar reached 59 off 45. Both of them were bowled by Haris Rauf, but Bracewell took them through to the final over of the innings, helped by an unbeaten cameo of 27 off 14 balls from Iftikhar Ahmed.
While Rauf was expensive, he and Shaheen Shah Afridi were the pick of the Qalandars' bowling attack that had a difficult day.
In the chase, Qalandars lost wickets at regular intervals, but were anchored by a superb innings from Fakhar Zaman. He kept a steady pace, reaching his fourth fifty in as many innings off his 38th ball at the crease. The chase was sped along at the death by a flurry of boundaries from Sikandar Raza, before he fell onto his own stumps on 29 off 11 balls. Fittingly, it was Fakhar who scored the winning runs.
