The first double-header of PSL 2026 took place on Saturday (March 28). Here are the standings after Peshawar Zalmi and XXX secured their first wins of the season.
Peshawar Zalmi, Multani Sultans start with wins
Peshawar were asked to field first by Rawalpindiz skipper Mohammad Rizwan, who opened the batting with Yasir Khan. The uncapped player was the faster scorer in their stand, as they put on 125 in 12 overs before Rizwan was dismissed by Ali Raza. Yasir went on to make 83 off 46, and cameos from Kamran Ghulam and Daryl Mitchell took them to 214-4.
Zalmi got off to a solid start with 62-0 in the Powerplay from Babar Azam and Mohammad Haris. The run rate slowed a touch after they departed for 39 and 47 respectively and Aaron Hardie started to struggle. But Kusal Mendis kept things going; when he was dismissed, Peshawar needed 85 off 35 balls with four wickets in hand.
Thereafter, Abdul Samad (33 off 11) and Michael Bracewell (35* off 17) went berserk, before Aamer Jamal put the finishing touches on with 17* off 5 to complete the fifth-highest chase in PSL history.
In the second match of the day, Multan Sultans elected to field first, and 41-year-old Peter Siddle became the PSL's second-oldest debutant after Misbah-ul-Haq. Devon Conway was dismissed first after a 48-run stand with teenager Sameer Minhas, and Multan took control of the middle overs with regular breakthroughs. Mark Chapman's 40 off 21 and Faheem Ashraf's 26 off 17 eventually took them to 171-8.
Sahibzada Farhan was out for two in the chase, but the Aussie trio of Steve Smith, Josh Phillippe and Ashton Turner ensured the scoring rate did not go too low. Arafat Minhas and Mohammad Nawz then helped Turner get Multan over the line with eight balls to spare.
