Goa batter Abhinav Tejrana scored a century in his third first-class match during the third round of the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy, adding to the double hundred he made on debut.
At Mullanpur, Goa mounted a strong reply to Punjab’s first-innings total of 325. Royal Challengers Bengaluru-capped batter Suyash Prabhudessai (149) and Manthan Khutkar (86) set the tone with a double-century opening partnership.
After Khutkar fell at 222-1 and Prabhudessai at 286-2, the spotlight shifted to Tejrana, who produced a dazzling 140-ball 131 studded with six fours and seven sixes. He added 142 runs with skipper Snehal Kauthankar, who struck a 119-ball 78. Goa eventually declared their innings at an imposing 494-6.
That was Tejrana’s second 100-plus score in just his third first-class match. He began his first-class career earlier in the season with a superb 205 on debut against Chandigarh, batting 320 balls and striking 21 fours and four sixes. Tejrana became the 26th batter to score a double hundred on first-class debut, before Ayush Doseja extended the list to 27 with another 200 in the opening round.
Against Karnataka, he managed only 18 in the first innings but bounced back with an unbeaten 73 off 126 in the second. Tejrana's second century has lifted his first-class average to 142.33, with 427 runs from three matches (four innings).
Who is Abhinav Tejrana?
A left-handed batter who bowls off-breaks, Tejrana represented Delhi Under-16s in his early years, playing two matches in 2015 and scoring 18 and 6 not out. In 2023, he made the switch to Goa, turning out for their Under-23 side in the 2023–24 One Day Competition, where he scored an unbeaten 39 and 55 in two matches. Nearing 25, Tejrana is yet to feature in a T20 or a List A game.
