The second round of the 2025/26 Ranji Trophy got over on October 28. Here is a roundup of al the action from Round 2.

Elite Group A

Bad weather prevented play for a second consecutive day at Vizianagaram, forcing Andhra and Baroda to share points. Uttar Pradesh declared on the final morning with a 176-run lead, but Odisha played out time to secure a draw. Resuming the day on 365-5, Nagaland were bowled out for 446 – 66 behind Tamil Nadu’s first-innings total – but no further play was possible. At Nagpur, Vidarbha went past Jharkhand’s 332 and finished the day on 446-5.

Final scores:

  • Baroda 363 (Vishnu Solanki 131, Atit Sheth 86; Kavuri Saiteja 4-71, T Vijay 3-63) drew with Andhra 43-2 with first innings unfinished.
  • Odisha 243 (Sandeep Patnaik 53, Govinda Poddar 64, Sambit Baral 59*; Shivam Sharma 3-65) and 151-3 (Swastik Samal 71*) drew with Uttar Pradesh 409-6d (Madhav Kaushik 67, Karan Sharma 121, Aaradhya Yadav 101rh; Sambit Baral 3-52). Uttar Pradesh got a first innings lead.

  • Tamil Nadu 512-3d (Vimal Kumar 189, Pradosh Ranjan Paul 201*, C Andre Siddharth 65) drew with Nagaland 446 (Dega Nischal 175, Yugandhar Singh 67, Imliwati Lemtur 146; Gurjapneet Singh 4-75, DT Chandrasekhar 3-69). Tamil Nadu got a first-innings lead.

  • Jharkhand 332 (Shikhar Mohan 60, Sharandeep Singh 69; Nachiket Bhute 4-41, Praful Hinge 3-63) drew with Vidarbha 446-5 (Aman Mokhade 176, Ravikumar Samarth 63, Yash Rathod 101*). Vidarbha got a first-innings lead.

Elite Group B

Chasing 464 against Maharashtra, Chandigarh began the final day on 129-1 and were 281-4 at one point, but were bowled out for 319. Arjun Azad made 168 of these runs. Karnataka imposed the follow-on with a 154-run lead, but Goa lost only one wicket thereafter. No play at Rajkot meant that Madhya Pradesh got first-innings points against Saurashtra. Requiring 437 for a first-innings lead against Punjab, Kerala reached 345-7 before being bowled out for 371.

  • Maharashtra 313 (Arshin Kulkarni 50, Ruturaj Gaikwad 116, Saurabh Nawale 66; Jagjit Singh 3-79, Abhishek Saini 3-55) and 359-3d (Prithvi Shaw 222, Siddhesh Veer 62) beat Chandigarh 209 (Raman Bishnoi 54; Vicky Ostwal 6-40) and 319 (Arjun Azad 168; Mukesh Choudhary 4-34, Ramakrishna Ghosh 4-71) by 144 runs.

  • Karnataka 371 (Karun Nair 174, Shreyas Gopal 57; Arjun Tendulkar 3-100, Vasuki Koushik 3-35) drew with Goa 217 (Mohit Redkar 53; Vidwath Kaverappa 5-51, Abhilash Shetty 3-74) and 143-1 (Manthan Khutkar 55*, Abhinav Tejrana 73*). Karnataka got a first-innings lead.

  • Saurashtra 260 (Chirag Jani 82; Aryan Khan 4-31, Kumar Kartikeya 4-84) drew with Madhya Pradesh 355-9 (Yash Dubey 159, Saransh Jain 103*; Jaydev Unadkat 4-33). Madhya Pradesh got a first-innings lead.

  • Punjab 436 (Harnoor Singh 170, Prerit Dutta 72; Ankit Sharma 4-103) and 15-0 drew with Kerala 371 (Ankit Sharma 62, Baba Aparajith 51, Ahammed Imran 86; Krish Bhagat 4-52). Punjab got a first-innings lead.

Elite Group C

Mohammed Shami (5-38) claimed his first five-wicket haul in first-class cricket in four years to help Bengal beat Gujarat by 141 runs. Resuming at 310-5, Uttarakhand overhauled Railways’ first-innings total of 333 before the match petered out to a draw.

  • Bengal 279 (Sudip Gharami 56, Abishek Porel 51, Sumanta Gupta 63; Siddharth Desai 4-69) and 214-8d (Sudip Gharami 54, Anustup Majumdar 58; Siddharth Desai 5-61) beat Gujarat 167 (Manan Hingrajia 80*; Shahbaz Ahmed 6-34) and 185 (Urvil Patel 109*; Mohammed Shami 5-38, Shahbaz Ahmed 3-60) by 141 runs.

  • Railways 333 (Mohammad Saif 131, Bhargav Merai 89*; Mayank Mishra 6-84) and 85-1 drew with Uttarakhand 398 (Kunal Chandela 50, Yuvraj Chaudhary 92, Bhupen Lalwani 78; Kunal Yadav 5-85). Uttarakhand got a first-innings lead.

  • Previously completed matches in the group: Assam 103 and 75 lost to Services 108 and 73-2 by 8 wickets. Tripura 126 and 47 lost to Haryana 158 and 18-1 by 9 wickets.

Elite Group D

With a 309-run lead, Hyderabad enforced the follow-on but could take only five wickets in Puducherry’s second innings. Mumbai asked Chhattisgarh to bat again as well, but managed only three wickets. Himachal Pradesh became 8-2 in the fourth innings against Delhi, but Ankush Bains and Pukhraj Mann played out time.

  • Hyderabad 435 (Tanmay Agarwal 50, Rahul Singh 114, K Himateja 66, Rahul Radesh 81; Sagar Udesh 4-81) drew with Puducherry 126 (B Punniah 3-20, T Thyagarajan 4-48) and 97-5. Hyderabad got a first-innings lead.

  • Mumbai 416 (Ajinkya Rahane 159, Siddhesh Lad 80, Akash Anand 61; Ravi Kiran 3-53, Aditya Sarwate 5-103) drew with Chhattisgarh 217 (Aayush Pandey 50; Shams Mulani 5-59, Himanshu Singh 3-42) and 201-3 (Aayush Pandey 117*). Mumbai got a first-innings lead.

  • Delhi 430 (Arpit Rana 64, Sanat Sangwan 79, Yash Dhull 61, Ayush Doseja 75, Sumit Mathur 51, Anuj Rawat 57; Vaibhav Arora 4-78, Arpit Guleria 4-106) and 209-4d (Ayush Doseja 64*, Yash Dhull 70; Mukul Negi 3-57) drew with Himachal Pradesh 297 (Sidhant Purohit 70, Akash Vasisht 62; Navdeep Saini 3-52) and 168-2 (Ankush Bains 81*, Pukhraj Mann 76*). Delhi got a first-innings lead.

Plate Group

Having conceded a first-innings lead of 59 against Meghalaya, Sikkim batted through the final day to finish on 303-7. No play at Nadiad forced Manipur and Bihar to split points. With a day lost to rain, Mizoram declared overnight and bowled out Arunachal Pradesh to win by an innings.

  • Sikkim 346 (Amit Rajera 51, Gurinder Singh 129, Kranthi Kumar 95; Akash Choudhary 4-85, Dippu Sangma 3-72) and 303-7d (Ashish Thapa 117, K Sai Satwik 52, Kranthi Kumar 50; Akash Choudhary 3-56) drew with Meghalaya 405 (Arpit Bhatewara 200, Kishan Lyngdoh 102; Kranthi Kumar 6-86). Meghalaya got a first-innings lead.

  • Manipur 387-6 (Kangabam Priyojit 186*) drew with Bihar with first innings unfinished.

  • Arunachal Pradesh 187 (Lalrempuia 3-47) and 144 (Techi Neri 91; Khiangte Vanrotlinga 3-25, Lalrempuia 5-63) lost to Mizoram 389-6d (Sahil Reza 65, Armaan Jaffer 144, F Lalmanzuala 55) by an innings and 58 runs.
