Ranji Trophy Round 3, Day 4: Suryavanshi blitzes 93 off 67, Jaiswal smashes 150

Round three of the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy concluded on November 4; here's a round-up of all the action from day four.

Elite Group A

In Cuttack, Odisha were bowled out for 274 in their second innings after being forced to follow on. They had resumed the day on 190-2 but ultimately succumbed to an innings defeat. Andhra bowler Saurabh Kumar picked up 3-47 in addition to his 3-32 and a 38-ball 69 in the first innings.

Jharkhand also won by an innings against Nagaland. Anukul Roy finished with a career-best match haul of 13-90 (8-55 and 5-35).

Having conceded a 210-run first-innings lead, Tamil Nadu lost half of their side for 155 in their second innings against Vidarbha. However, Baba Aparajith's unbeaten fifty helped them secure a draw.

The Baroda-Uttar Pradesh fixture in Kotambi, Gujarat, was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Scores at stumps, day four:

  • Andhra 475-7 d (Shaik Rasheed 140*, Sambit Baral 2-85) v Odisha 151 (Sandeep Pattanaik 58, Tripurana Vijay 3-14) & 274 (Gaurav Choudhary 80, Saurabh Kumar 3-47). Andhra won by an innings and 50 runs.
  • Jharkhand 510-8 d (Shikhar Mohan 207, Rongsen Jonathan 3-129) v Nagaland 154 (Chetan Bist 46*, Anukul Roy 8-55) & 160 (Jonathan Rongsen 50, Anukul Roy 5-35). Jharkhand won by an innings and 196 runs.
  • Tamil Nadu 291 (Pradosh Ranjan Paul 113, Nachiket Bhute 5-65) & 233-6 (Baba Indrajith 77*, Praful Hinge 4-60) v Vidarbha 501 (Yash Rathod 133, R Sai Kishore 5-150). Match drawn.
  • Baroda v Uttar Pradesh: Match abandoned without a ball bowled.

Elite Group B

Replying to Punjab's first-innings total of 325, Goa scored 494 before declaring. After Suyash Prabhudessai struck 149, it was Abhinav Tejrana who scored 131 off 140 balls, continuing his rapid start to his first-class career. Batting in the second innings, Punjab batter Nehal Wadhera struck an unbeaten 55 from 128 balls before the match ended in a draw.

In Indore, Chandigarh, resuming on their overnight first-innings score of 236-4, were bowled out for 310. Former India Under-19 all-rounder Raj Bawa top-scored with 77. Madhya Pradesh were 73-3 when the match ended in a draw.

Karnataka secured a sizeable first-innings lead against Kerala, riding on double-tons from Karun Nair and Smaran Ravichandran. Then 22-year-old off-spinner Mohsin Khan picked up a career-best 6-29 to help Karnataka win the match by an innings and 164 runs.

In the rain-affected match in Nashik, Saurashtra declared their first innings at 394-5 after centuries from Harvik Desai and Jay Gohil. Maharashtra were 55-1 when the match ended in a draw, with Prithvi Shaw – who struck a double ton in the previous round – the only wicket to fall.

  • Punjab 325 (Uday Saharan 126, Deepraj Gaonkar 3-34) & 179-4 (Nehal Wadhera 55*, Darshan Misal 2-57) v Goa 494-6d (Suyash Prabhudessai 149, Ayush Goyal 3-87). Match drawn.
  • Madhya Pradesh 384-8 (Harpreet Singh 116, Jagjit Singh 5-69) & 73-3 (Harsh Gawli 33, Nishunk Birla 2-21) v Chandigarh 310 (Raj Bawa 77, Kumar Kartikeya 4-100). Match drawn.
  • Karnataka 586-5d (Karun Nair 233, N Basil 2-101) v Kerala 238 (Baba Aparajith 88, Vidwath Kaverappa 4-42) & 184 (Eden Apple Tom 39*, Mohsin Khan 6-29). Karnataka won by an innings and 164 runs.
  • Saurashtra 394-5d (Harvik Desai 132, Mukesh Choudhary 2-96) v Maharashtra 55-1 (Arshin Kulkarni 35*, Hiten Kanbi 1-6). Match drawn.

Elite Group C

Tripura, resuming on 273-7, went past Bengal’s first-innings total of 336, finishing with 383. Hanuma Vihari, who began the day having already reached his century, went on to make 141, while captain Manisankar Murasingh struck an unbeaten 102 off 130 balls from No. 9. In response, Bengal reached 90-3 in 25 overs of their second innings, with out-of-favour India all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed remaining unbeaten on 51 off 45 balls as the match ended in a draw.

In Guwahati, Swarupam Purkayastha scored 121 of Assam’s 209 in the first innings before Adarsh Singh’s 6 for 48 triggered a collapse, giving Railways a 15-run lead. Railways were 97-1 in their second innings when the game was drawn.

In Dehradun, Uttarakhand successfully defended 123 in the fourth innings, with Mayank Mishra claiming 5-45 to seal a dramatic finish.

Chasing 62 for victory, Haryana were reduced to 43-6 against Gujarat before Parth Vats (14 not out) and Yashvardhan Dalal (13 not out) guided them home without further loss.

  • Railways 224 (Bhargav Merai 73*, Ayushman Malakar 3-42) 7 97-1 (Suraj Ahuja 57*, Swarupam Purkayastha 1-23) v Assam 209 (Sarupam Purkayastha 121, Adarsh Singh 6-48). Match drawn.
  • Uttarakhand 257 (Jagadeesha Suchith 67, Vikas Yadav 5-53) & 88 (Kunal Chandela 26, Arjun Sharma 6-41) v Services 223 (Mohit Ahlawat 75, Mayank Mishra 4-86) & 105 (Arjun Sharma 23, Mayank Mishra 5-45). Uttarakhand won by 17 runs.
  • Gujarat 163 (Kshitij Patel 50, Nikhil Kashyap 3-34) & 137 (Urvil Patel 44, Nikhil Kashyap 4-59) v Haryana 239 (Yashvardhan Dalal 55*, Siddharth Desai 4-43) & 62-6 (Parth Vats 14*, Vishal Jaiswal 3-23). Haryana won by four wickets.

Elite Group D

In response to Jammu and Kashmir’s 394 in the first innings, Chhattisgarh resumed the day on 297-6. Captain Amandeep Khare’s 156 and Aditya Sarwate’s 79 lifted them to 505-9 before they declared, with the match eventually ending in a draw.

After conceding a first-innings lead of 187 runs, Delhi openers Arpit Rana and Sanat Sangwan produced an unbeaten 321-run stand to secure a draw, both registering centuries.

Trailing Rajasthan’s first-innings total by 363 runs, Mumbai fought back courtesy of a 174-ball 156 from Yashasvi Jaiswal. They were 269-3 when the match ended in a draw.

In Hyderabad’s chase of 344 against Himachal Pradesh, Abhirath Reddy anchored the innings with a brilliant 175 not out off 200 balls, steering his side to safety as the match finished in a draw.

  • Mumbai 254 (Yashasvi Jaiswal 67, Kukna Ajay Singh 4-66) & 269-3 (Yashasvi Jaiswal 156, Kukna Ajay Singh 2-61) v Rajasthan 617-6d (Deepak Hooda 248, Tushar Deshpande 2-67). Match drawn.
  • Himachal Pradesh 318 (Akash Vashisht 118, Tanay Thyagarajan 4-80) & 303 (Akash Vashisht 101*, Chama Milind 3-67) v Hyderabad 278 (Chama Milind 98, Vaibhav Arora 4-51) & 347-6 (Abhirath Reddy 175*, Aryaman Singh 3-91. Hyderabad won by four wickets.

Plate Group

After enforcing the follow-on, Manipur beat Arunachal Pradesh by an innings and 119 runs. Arunachal were bowled out for 139 in their second innings, with Bishworjit Konthoujam claiming four wickets.

In reply to Meghalaya’s 408-7 declared, India U19 batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi struck a brisk 93 off 67 balls as the match ended in a draw.

Sikkim, resuming on 158-3 in response to Mizoram’s 424, recovered strongly to post 427-8 and secure a draw. Robin Limboo (60), Ankur Malik (54), and Kranthi Kumar (58 not out) all contributed half-centuries.
