Hassan Ali picked up a hat-trick during his figures of 6-23 during the T20 Blast on Sunday (June 8) at Birmingham.
Playing for the Birmingham Bears, Hassan Ali was the first-change bowler in Derbyshire’s chase of 200. Bears openers Tom Latham and Alex Davies had posted 58 (in 42) and 49 (in 29), respectively, leading them to a formidable score.
Hassan, who was playing the T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh until last week, starred with the ball as Derbyshire, who are yet to win a game, were all out for 141. He removed David Lloyd first up in the fourth over, and then removed Martin Andersson in the space of three balls, as Derbyshire fell to 28-4 after four overs.
In the 16th over, Hassan sent back Ross Whiteley, Alex Thomson and then yorked out Ben Aitchison off successive deliveries to claim his hat-trick, and his third T20 five-for. He set off across the ground in jubilation, before coming back to take his sixth, bowling the last batter, Pat Brown, for one, as Derbyshire lost by 58 runs.
In the last year, Hassan has picked up 45 T20 wickets in 20 games at an average of 14.66, along with two five-fors and as many four-wicket hauls.
The Bears are currently sixth in the North Group, with two wins from four games.
