England have announced a 12-member squad for the first Ashes Test set to start on November 21 in Perth.
England Ashes squad: Shoaib Bashir, Mark Wood included
England have included both spinner Shoaib Bashir and fast bowler Mark Wood in the 12-member squad.
Wood was under an injury cloud after having suffered hamstring tightness during England's intra-squad practice match last week, but has since recovered and looks set to feature in the first Test.
Bashir's inclusion in the group suggests England could still go in with a combination of four seamers (including Ben Stokes) and a spinner, a likely scenario if Wood is not 100 per cent ready by the morning of the first Test.
The batting line-up bears a settled look, particularly after Ollie Pope's scores in the warm-up game. Pope had come into the tour under severe pressure, having lost his vice-captaincy to Harry Brook. But he found some form with a century and a 90 against England Lions last week.
Openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, Joe Root, Stokes, and wicketkeeper Jamie Smith round off the rest of the batting options.
Among bowlers, Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse, and Gus Atkinson have been included.
