Sarfaraz Khan made a magificent century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match between Mumbai and Goa on Wednesday (December 31).

Sarfaraz last played for India in November 2024, and has been repeatedly overlooked since, despite the Test team going through a rough period. However, he hasn't let the snubs affect his performance in domestic cricket.
Earlier in December, Sarfaraz had smashed a 15-ball half-century following a 47-ball hundred for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, eventually leading to him getting picked up by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2026 auction. Now, he has carried that rich vein of form into the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
On December 31, during Mumbai's fourth-round clash against Goa, Sarfaraz made a 56-ball hundred while batting at No.4, finishing on 157 off 75 balls - his highest List A score. His knock was studded with as many as 14 sixes and nine fours, amounting to 120 runs in boundaries. It was also the third fastest List A hundred by a Mumbai batter after Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer's 50-ball tons in 2020/21 and 2024/25 respectively.
The Mumbai batting order rallied around Sarfaraz's onslaught, with brother Musheer Khan (60 off 66), and wicketkeeper Hardik Tamore (53 off 28) also making fifties. No batter was dismissed for a single-digit score as Mumbai piled up 444-8, their second-highest List A total ever.
Goa fought well in response, but could only muster 357-9 from their 50 overs, with another promising youngster, Abhinav Tejrana, scoring a 70-ball 100 from No.6.

Sarfaraz's ton was his third in List A cricket. From 30 innings in the format, he has crossed 50 only four times, but has converted three of those scores into hundreds. His stellar first-class record is still intact, as he averages 63.15 after 60 matches. No active cricketer with more than 2,000 first-class runs has a better average than Sarfaraz's.
