Indian teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed a 36-ball hundred in Bihar's Vijay Hazare Trophy opener against Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday (December 24).
Vaibhav Suryavanshi blitzes maiden List A hundred
On a day headlined by the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi stole early attention. Opening the batting for Bihar against Arunachal Pradesh at the JSCA Oval Ground in Ranchi, the left-hander smashed his way to an astonishing 36-ball hundred.

Suryavanshi burst into the limelight when he was picked up by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and then went on to hit his first ball in the tournament for six, followed by a record 35-ball hundred. Having already played for India A and U19 since then, Suryavanshi has now stamped his authority in senior List A cricket with his first century in the format.

He reached his first fifty in 25 balls, taking only 11 more deliveries to go to hundred. He wasn't done there. Suryavanshi got to 150 off 59 balls and was looking set to smash the record for the fastest double century in List A cricket - off 104 balls - before he was dismissed agonisingly short for 190 (84).
His knock included 16 fours and 15 sixes, amounting to a total of 154 runs in boundaries.
Fastest List A hundreds: Full list
Suryavanshi's 36-ball ton is the joint fifth-fastest in the history of List A cricket. It is also the second-fastest among Indians in the format, after Anmolpreet Singh's 35-ball hundred for Punjab, also against Arunachal Pradesh, in the previous Vijay Hazare Trophy season.
With his effort, Suryavanshi went past the famous 37-ball ODI hundred scored by Shahid Afridi. The record for the fastest List A hundred belongs to Jake Fraser-McGurk, who took only 29 balls to reach the landmark for South Australia against Tasmania in 2023.
Suryavanshi already has three T20 centuries to his name, making this his fourth across all senior professional cricket.
