Deepti Sharma jumped two spots to sixth in the latest ICC women's T20I rankings for bowlers, overtaking Pakistan's Nashra Sandhu in the process.
Deepti has been in brilliant form in the Asia Cup, conceding only 14 runs and picking up eight wickets in three matches so far. She is second to only Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu, who took seven in one game, on the tournament's wicket-taking leaderboard. The India all-rounder has an exceptional economy of 1.9 and her eight wickets have come at an average of 1.75.
Deepti didn’t concede a single run against Thailand and picked up three wickets before returning with 3-9 vs Hong Kong. She then went for only five runs and picked up two wickets against arch-rivals Pakistan.
Sandhu, meanwhile, has slipped one place to eighth despite her record six-wicket haul against Hong Kong on Monday, September 7. She registered the best-ever T20I figures for Pakistan, men or women, returning 6-7 from her four overs. Apart from Sandhu, England’s Linsey Smith also slipped one place to seventh with Deepti’s rise in the rankings. South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp climbed to ninth place, while Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal dropped to tenth.
There were no movements in the top 10 of the rankings for batters and all-rounders.

England stand-in captain Charlie Dean climbs ODI charts after Ireland whitewash
Meanwhile, England whitewashed Ireland comfortably in the recently concluded ODI series, which triggered some changes in the ICC women's ODI rankings. Stand-in England captain, Charlie Dean, jumped two places to joint-eleventh in the bowlers' rankings after picking up three wickets in as many matches. She also moved up a spot to go joint-ninth in the rankings for all-rounders.
Sophie Ecclestone, who missed the series, dropped from second to third, with Ashleigh Gardner taking her spot among the bowlers. On the other hand, Ireland's Amy Hunter was in exceptional touch against England, mustering 62, 64 and 39 in three outings to jump nine places to 11th in the rankings for batters.
