Temba Bavuma at Lord's ahead of the 2025 World Test Championship final

The final of the 2023-2025 World Test Championship gets underway at Lord's today, with Australia taking on South Africa in the culmination of another two-year cycle. Find all the match details here, including live scores, commentary, toss updates and more from the WTC final.

After two years of Test matches, the third edition of the World Test Championship will reach its conclusion in London this week. Having qualified for the final for the second cycle running, Australia will be looking to retain their title after beating India at The Oval in 2023. South Africa, however, will be making their debut in the final, having finished top of the standings after the league stage.

Both teams named their XIs ahead of the toss, with Australia opting for Josh Hazlewood over Scott Boland and confirming that Marnus Labuschagne would fill a new role in the side, partnering Usman Khawaja at the top of the order. South Africa meanwhile have stuck with Wiaan Mulder in the position he's occupied in his last two Test appearances at No.3, while Lungi Ngidi has been backed as their third seamer.

Rain might play a part later on in the fixture, with grey skies over Lord's on day one and drizzle set for London on day three – you can find the latest weather updates for the fixture here.

WTC Final – SA v AUS: Team news

Australia have Cameron Green available to them in a Test for the first time in a year, the all-rounder having recovered from a long-term back injury. He is set to bat at No.3, with Marnus Labuschagne moving up to open alongside Usman Khawaja to accommodate his return. Labuschagne has never previously opened that batting in a Test match, and his move up the order means there is no space for teenage sensation Sam Konstas. Beau Webster has also been backed as an all-rounder in the middle-order, with no space for Josh Inglis, who scored a century on Test debut against Sri Lanka earlier this year. Josh Hazlewood plays over Scott Boland, despite Boland's excellent record in English conditions.

South Africa have opted for Lungi Ngidi over Dane Patterson in their XI, with ngidi part of a three-man pace attack alongside Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen. Ngidi last played a Test match in August 2023, while Patterson took a six-wicket haul against Pakistan last December. Wiaan Mulder also retains his spot at No.3.
