Jofra Archer has been ruled out of England's ODI series against the West Indies later this month with an injury to his right thumb.
A statement from the ECB read: "He [Archer] will be reassessed by the England medical team over the next fortnight to determine when he may return to action."
ENG vs WI ODIs: Luke Wood to replace Jofra Archer
Lancashire pacer Luke Wood has been called up as Archer's replacement for the ODI series. He has played two ODIs and five T20Is for England, with no wickets in the 50-over format yet, and eight in T20Is.
The news of Archer's injury will come as a blow to England, who had hopes that Archer would be able to make a Test comeback against India this summer before the Ashes series later in the year. The series against the West Indies, England's first under Harry Brook's captaincy era, is set to begin on May 29, with three ODIs and three T20Is concluding on June 10.

Archer was also in line to play an England Lions red-ball game against India A in Northampton, beginning on June 6, having been left out of England's T20I squad against West Indies with a view to play in the match, but will now also likely sit that out. With Archer having not played a first-class match for four years, his unfortunate run of injuries means his absence in the format will likely be extended.
Prior to the announcement of the IPL rule change, banning overseas players who did not enter this year's auction from entering for a further two years, the ECB had hoped to gradually increase Archer's workload to ease him back into the red-ball format. Archer was set to miss the tournament and was a late entry to the auction after the rule change was announced.
He has been playing for Rajasthan Royals in the tournament, and has taken 11 wickets in 12 matches with best figures of 3-25.
