In a World Championship of Legends game against Pakistan Champions at Leicester, John Hastings of Australia Champions bowled 12 wides and a no-ball in an incomplete over.
Pakistan bowled out Australia for 74 in 11.5 overs at Grace Road after Shoaib Malik won the toss and opted to field. Sohail Tanvir and Sohail Khan took out the openers, but Australia looked comfortable at 49-2 in the sixth over. Then they lost eight wickets for 25 runs in 39 balls.
The wrecker-in-chief was Saeed Ajmal, who finished with 6-16 in 3.5 overs, while Imad Wasim chipped in with 2-11 in his three overs. For Australia, wicketkeeper Ben Dunk (26 in 14 balls) and Callum Ferguson (10 in 15) were the only ones to reach double figures. In the interval, Australia substituted Chris Lynn for Hastings.
Sharjeel Khan (32 not out in 23) and Sohaib Maqsood (28 not out in 26), the Pakistan openers, were not troubled by the Australian bowlers. Runs came comfortably, and they were left to chase 20 in seven overs with all 10 wickets in hand. At this point, Hastings came to bowl his first over.
Hastings began with five enormous wides, each of them well outside the off-stump of the right-handed Maqsood. After Maqsood ran a single, the left-handed Sharjeel put the next ball away for four. Hastings followed with a no-ball and a wide bouncer outside the leg-stump. A leg-bye changed the strike.
After bowling another wide, Hastings produced the first ball of the over that did not go for a run. Maqsood then ran a single to bring down the target to five.

Perhaps desperate by now, Hastings switched to round the wicket – but ended up bowling three consecutive wides across Sharjeel, well outside the leg-stump. Hastings tried bowling from the other side, but this time he bowled well outside the off-stump. Thankfully, two wides ended his misery.
