On Saturday (October 25), Kiran Navgire smashed an unbeaten 96 in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, India's domestic T20 tournament.

Batting first, Mumbai made 158-5. Their most decisive partnership came for the fifth wicket (67 off 33), with Sayali Satghare (39 off 22) top-scoring in the innings before being run out off the last ball.

Maharashtra’s chase was spearheaded by their opener, Kiran Navgire, who scored an unbeaten 96 off 42 balls. She first shared a 46-run stand with Gautami Naik (22 off 28) and then stitched an unbeaten 88-run partnership with Tejal Hasabnis (28 not out off 23). She struck nine sixes and six fours, with four of those over-boundaries coming against leg-spinner Prakashika Naik, whom she hit for 29 runs off 10 balls. As a result, Maharashtra gunned down the total with nine wickets and 4.5 overs to spare.

      Kiran Navgire hits another incredible knock

      That was Navgire’s fifth score above ninety in Women’s T20s. This came just a week after she scored a 34-ball hundred in the same competition against Punjab. On that occasion, she made 106 not out in a chase of 111, a remarkable innings featuring 21 boundaries.

      Her highest score in the format is an unbeaten 162 off 76 balls against Arunachal Pradesh in 2022, making her the first Indian to hit a 150-plus score.

      UP Warriorz picked up Navgire during the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League. She has scored 419 runs at a strike rate of 140.13 from 25 matches in the tournament. Her highest of 57 off 31 balls came against two-time champions Mumbai Indians last year. The innings helped Warriorz chase 162 in 16.3 overs, losing just three wickets.

      Navgire has played six matches since making her women’s T20I debut in 2022, scoring 17 runs at an average of 5.66. Her last international appearance came against Bangladesh in October 2022, and she hasn’t played since then.
