The highly rated Musheer Khan had the perfect all-round performance for Mumbai's development side this week, hitting a rapid century before taking six wickets against Nottinghamshire's second XI.
Musheer, who is the younger brother of India player Sarfaraz Khan, played a perfect hand in the game – which is part of the MCA's Emerging Players tour of the UK. Opening the batting in the first innings, he hit 123 off 149 deliveries, taking the Mumbai side towards 300 before he was dismissed by Shaariq Sheikh.
Mumbai put on 448 before being bowled out in that innings, Manan Bhatt also making a hundred. When they came out to bowl, it was Musheer who starred once again. He took six wickets with his left-arm spin while conceding just 31 runs from 8.2 overs, with Nottinghamshire Seconds bowled out for 210 and conceding a huge first innings deficit. Asked to follow-on, Notts slipped to 90-3 on the second day of the fixture, still needing 151 runs to reach parity.

Who is Musheer Khan?
Musheer made his first-class debut for Mumbai in 2022 when he was still a teenager. He represented India in last year's U19 World Cup, in which he was the second-leading run-scorer, and scored two centuries in the competition. In the weeks following the World Cup, he made his maiden first-class hundred for Mumbai in the quarter-final of the Ranji Trophy in just his fourth first-class game, and he converted it into a double. He also scored a century in the final of the Trophy, which broke Sachin Tendulkar's record of the youngest Mumbai batter to score a century in a Ranji Trophy final, leading Mumbai to their 42nd Ranji Trophy win.
However, he suffered a car crash which left him with a neck fracture in September last year, which caused him to take some time out from the game.
