Pakistan announce Asia Cup squad
Pakistan have excluded both Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam from their 17-member squad for the 2025 Asia Cup, with Salman Ali Agha retaining captaincy. The selection marks a recall for Mohammad Wasim, who hasn't played a T20I since January 2024. This same squad will first compete in a T20I tri-series in the UAE ahead of the tournament, which begins on September 9.
Report: Bumrah available for Asia Cup
Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly confirmed his availability for the 2025 Asia Cup despite ongoing debates about his workload management.
"Bumrah has informed the selectors that he will be available for the Asia Cup selection. The selection committee will meet and discuss it when they meet next week," the Indian Express quoted a source.

Healy’s blazing ton powers Australia A to consolation win over India A
Australia A secured a nine-wicket consolation victory over India A in the third and final unofficial women's ODI at Brisbane. Captain Tahlia McGrath set the tone with 3-40 as the visitors were bowled out for 216 in 47.4 overs.
Alyssa Healy then dominated the chase with an unbeaten 137 off just 85 balls, hitting 23 fours and three sixes, powering Australia to the target in 27.5 overs. Despite the loss, India A claimed the unofficial women's ODI series 2-1, while Australia had earlier swept the T20I leg 3-0. The teams will next meet in an unofficial Test starting August 21.
Ashwin clarifies CSK's Brevis signing controversy
R Ashwin has clarified his stance on the controversy surrounding Chennai Super Kings' signing of Dewald Brevis. "This is a world of clickbait. Let me clarify once again what I had told in that previous video. I'd said that Brevis is playing at a different level now, and it's a terrific signing by CSK," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
The controversy erupted after Ashwin suggested in an earlier video that CSK had paid "extra money" in addition to the reported INR 2.2 crore to secure Brevis as an injury replacement.
Yash Dayal banned from UPT20
Yash Dayal, who was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's title-winning IPL 2025 campaign, has been barred from the upcoming UPT20 League (starting Sunday) after being purchased by Gorakhpur Lions for INR 7 lakh. The ban follows sexual harassment allegations, including rape charges in Ghaziabad and Jaipur.
In the Ghaziabad case, Dayal faces charges under the pretext of marriage and has secured interim protection from the Allahabad High Court. However, a Jaipur court has refused to grant relief due to the alleged involvement of a minor. The next hearing is scheduled for August 22.
Northern Territory Strikers win Top End T20 thriller
The Northern Territory Strikers edged past Hobart Hurricanes Academy in a tense, low-scoring Top End T20 thriller, securing a two-wicket victory. Bowling first, NTS dismissed the academy side for 125, spearheaded by Tom Menzies' 4-18. In reply, the Strikers collapsed to 56-8 before Matt Hammond (46* off 32) and Hamish Martin (31* off 23) sealed the chase with an over to spare.
