Sarfaraz Khan answers selectors with fine hundred
Sarfaraz, dropped from India’s recent Test squad against England, kicked off the domestic season with a 92-ball hundred in the Buchi Babu tournament. The Mumbaikar, who has 15 fifties and 16 hundreds in 55 first-class matches at an average of 65.98, the fifth-highest among batters with at least 50 innings, retired hurt on 138.
Ishan Kishan, Akash Deep ruled out of Duleep Trophy
India wicketkeeper Kishan will not play the upcoming Duleep Trophy, which will kickstart India’s 2025-26 domestic season. Kishan was sent to lead the East Zone in the tournament, but has now been replaced as skipper by Abhimanyu Easwaran. East Zone have also received another blow, as Akash Deep has also been advised rest, and will miss the tournament.
BCB probe finds 36 suspicious fixing incidents in 11th BPL
A total of 36 suspicious incidents were detected in the 11th season of the Bangladesh Premier League, with 10 to 12 players named, including two former Bangladesh internationals, a current squad member, and a franchise coach. Of these, 3 to 4 players have been “high flagged,” meaning the allegations of them being involved are "almost confirmed". The report also links teams Durbar Rajshahi, Sylhet Strikers, and Dhaka Capitals to fixing in the last BPL. Compiled from 300 hours of transcripts, the preliminary report will reach BCB president Aminul Islam next week, before a detailed final version next month.
Kris Srikkanth: Vaibhav Suryavanshi should be in India’s Asia Cup squad
Former India opener and chief selector Kris Srikkanth has urged selectors to fast-track 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi into India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad, calling him a once-in-a-generation talent. The Ajit Agarkar-led panel meets on August 19 in Mumbai to finalise the squad, with openers Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma already in contention. Suryavanshi struck a 35-ball IPL century for Rajasthan Royals - the fastest by an Indian batter in the league - and carried his form in the under-19 England tour, making 355 runs in the One-Dayers.
India’s Women’s World Cup squad to be announced on Tuesday
According to reports, India’s ODI World Cup squad will be announced on August 19. The event, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will begin on September 30, with India being led by Harmanpreet Kaur. The men's Asia Cup squad is set to be named on Tuesday as well.
