England are set to announce their first men's Test squad of the summer, to take on New Zealand. Follow live updates here.
The England side will take the field in red-ball cricket for the first time since the Ashes, which ended 3-1 to Australia. Wisden Almanack editor Lawrence Booth described the team as ‘feckless, reckless and legless’, and the management promised a thorough review of the tour, whose off-field incidents did not cover the squad in glory.
Luke Wright has left his post as England men's selector, and is set to be replaced by Durham director of cricket Marcus North, who will take up the role of national selector. All eyes are on the squad that will be unveiled for the New Zealand series, not least because there is an anticipation that County Championship performances may have a bigger say than previously under the McCullum-Stokes regime.
Several spots in the squad appear to be up for grabs. There is growing uncertainty over Zak Crawley's place at the top of the order, while the Shoaib Bashir experiment thus far has yielded underwhelming returns. And what of the quicks?
