The World Championship of Legends (WCL) began on July 18 in Birmingham, with six teams – Pakistan, South Africa, Australia, India, England and West Indies. The group stage came to an end on Wednesday (July 29). Pakistan and South Africa finished first and second with four wins each in five games, and Australia and India took the other two semi-final spots, finishing third and fourth respectively.

Earlier in the campaign, India had caused a stir as several players pulled out of their group stage game against Pakistan, with tensions between the nations relatively high following the military action carried out in May this year, which put both the IPL and PSL on pause.
