Watch: Aaryavir Sehwag, son of former India captain Virender Sehwag, hit consecutive fours off India Test quick Navdeep Saini during a DPL 2025 match between Central Delhi Kings and East Delhi Riders on Wednesday (August 27).
Aaryavir opened the innings for Central Delhi Kings alongside Kaushal Suman. After a watchful start, making just one run from his first four balls, Aaryavir struck consecutive fours off Saini in the third over to get going. The first one was lofted over cover for a one-bounce four, and for the second, he stepped out and smashed it between mid-off and extra cover.
This wasn't the only time he hit two fours in a row, as he repeated the feat in the fifth over against Rounak Waghela. Aaryavir's innings finally came to an end for a 16-ball 22 when Waghela dismissed him off the fourth ball of that same over.
Central Delhi Kings made 155-6, courtesy of Yugal Saini’s 52. Defending the score, they bowled out East Delhi Riders for 93, with Money Grewal (5-23) emerging as the wrecker-in-chief.
Aaryavir, 17, is the elder son of former India batter Virender Sehwag, who led his country in 17 matches across 2003 and 2012, finishing as the highest run-scorer among India openers in Tests. Aaryavir played for Delhi in the 2025 Cooch Behar Trophy, India's top-flight four-day tournament for Under-19 players. He scored 496 runs at an average of 70.86 and a strike rate of 73.69. His most notable innings in that tournament was a 297 off 309 balls against Meghalaya.
