Babar Azam bowling off spin

Watch: In a 15-over exhibition match featuring PSL's Peshawar Zalmi and an all-star Legends XI, Babar Azam took two key wickets, and playing an all-round role in his side's win.

Babar Azam dismisses Younis Khan, Azhar Ali

Babar Azam, who rarely turns his arm over in international cricket, unfurled his gentle offies against the Legends team. Surprisingly, he struck off his first ball: Azhar Ali, in an attempt to clear the ropes first up, ended up spooning a catch in the infield.

That wasn't it: soon after, he bagged Younis Khan too, hurtling a ball into the legendary Pakistan batter, who lost his leg-stump. A smiling Younis Khan walked off, leaving Babar to celebrate with his teammates. After three overs, his figures read 2-21.

For those curious, Babar has picked up seven first-class wickets and 12 List A wickets, adding to his four T20 scalps. In Tests, he has two wickets, but he hasn't bowled in ODIs or T20Is.

Earlier, Babar shone with the bat, scoring 41 off 22 balls and giving the crowd plenty to cheer about.

Saeed Ajmal gets the better of Babar

The 30-year-old, who isn't currently part of Pakistan's T20I plans, opened the batting alongside Yasir Hameed for Zalmi. He first took on Shoaib Akhtar – now 50 and not quite as quick as he used to be, racing to 35 off 20 before Saeed Ajmal was brought into the attack. He moved to 41 off 23 with a six off the off-spinner, but got out trying to heave the next one too. The ball snuck through and crashed into his off-stump.

Despite Inzamam-ul-Haq's unbeaten 46 (23), the Legends fell short of Zalmi's total by six runs.

The exhibition match was played as benefit for victims of the devastating flash floods that affected Pakistan recently.
