Brian Chari gets run out after celebrating a fifty

Watch: Out-of-favour Zimbabwe batter Brian Chari got run out while celebrating his fifty during a 2025-26 Logan Cup match between Tuskers and Mega Market Mountaineers in Bulawayo.

Off the penultimate ball of the 52nd over of the first innings, Chari paddle-swept Mountaineers off-spinner Definate Mawadzi. He took a single to reach his fifty and then opted for a second run, strolling casually back into his crease before tapping his bat on the ground.

The next moment, he raised his bat and was seen walking absent-mindedly, presumably to have a chat with the non-striker, Tafara Mupariwa. In the meantime, a throw came in from the deep from Timycen Maruma, and wicketkeeper Joylord Gumbie removed the bails to run Chari out.

When the throw was hurled at his end, Chari attempted to get back into his crease, but it was too late. He was dismissed for 51 off 80 balls, having hit six fours and a six. Mupariwa made a 169-ball 81, with Tuskers on 182 at the fall of the fourth wicket.
