Cricket news today: David Warner surpasses Virat Kohli, Bumrah set to feature in Asia Cup

Australian seamer Annabel Sutherland has claimed the top spot in the ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings for the first time, ending Pakistan spinner Sadia Iqbal’s brief reign at No.1.

India's Asia Cup squad is likely to be announced on August 18 or 19, with Shubman Gill expected to return to the format after a year. Reports also state that he could be the vice-captain of the side, taking over from Axar Patel. Jasprit Bumrah, whose workload management has also been under scrutiny lately, is set to play in the tournament. 

David Warner now has 13,545 runs in T20s, and is the fifth-leading run-scorer in the format, behind Chris Gayle, Keiron Pollard, Alex Hales and Shoaib Malik. He surpassed Virat Kohli (13,543 runs) during his 51-ball 71 for London Spirit on Monday. 

Sunil Gavaskar has criticised the England and Wales Cricket Board for not inviting Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson to the presentation ceremony of the inaugural Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, which ended 2-2.

Earlier this year, Gavaskar had also been critical of the trophy presentation during the Border-Gavaskar trophy, where only Allan Border was present.
