South Africa batter Dewald Brevis shot up in the ICC men's T20I batting rankings after a stellar effort against Australia on Tuesday (August 12).
Dewald Brevis leaps into top 25 after record breaking 125*
Brevis was in action against Australia on August 12, during the second T20I in Darwin. Coming in at 44-2 in the fifth over, he scored his maiden T20I half-century, before converting it into a triple-figure score. He eventually made an unbeaten 125 off 56 balls, including 12 fours and eight sixes. Brevis became the youngest South African to score a T20 century, and recorded the highest individual score by a South African in the format.
That knock has propelled him an astonishing 80 spots up in the ICC men's T20I batting rankings, from 101st to 21st, just behind Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan.
Tim David makes top ten of ICC T20I rankings for first time
Elsewhere, Australia star Tim David went from strength to strength as he moved up six spots, breaking into the top ten of the rankings for the first time in his career. He has been in a rich vein of form of late, with scores of 50, 83, 30 and 102* in his last four T20I innings.
Among bowlers, a couple of left-arm quicks in South Africa's Kwena Maphaka and Australia's Ben Dwarshuis were the big gainers, moving up 61 and 60 spots respectively. The pair have taken seven and five wickets each in the ongoing series.
