Nurul Hasan

In the first “Test” against New Zealand A at Sylhet, Bangladesh A captain Nurul Hasan hit a 74-ball hundred.

While keeping wicket, Nurul stood at first slip during the third “ODI” against New Zealand A. Unfortunately, a helmet had been placed at what would have been his usual position, behind the stumps. A ball hit the helmet in bizarre circumstances, and New Zealand A were rewarded five penalty runs.

The tourists won that game with four wickets and ten balls in hand, but Bangladesh A – having already taken an unassailable lead – claimed the series 2-1.

The “ODIs” were followed by two “Tests”. In the first of these, New Zealand A were bowled out for 256 on the second morning. Khaled Ahmed led the rout 6-59, while Anamul Haque picked up 3-32. New Zealand A were 101-6 at one point before wicketkeeper Mitchell Hay (81) and Dean Foxcroft (47) rescued them with an 88-run stand.

Nurul Hasan smashes rapid hundred vs NZ A

However, the visitors hit back, and Bangladesh A were soon reduced to 81-4. Nurul joined Mahidul Islam Ankon at this point. As Ankon held the fort at one end, Nurul tore into the bowling, comfortably dominating a 132-run fifth wicket stand. He took only 74 balls to bring up his hundred.

Nurul eventually fell only two runs after Ankon, for an 88-ball 107. The innings included 11 fours and five sixes. Bangladesh A scored only 134 during his stay at the crease.

At the time of writing, Bangladesh A were 242-7 (Josh Clarkson 4-44) with Nayeem Hasan (19) and Hasan Murad (8) at the crease. Nurul is the only one in the team to have gone past 25 yet.
