Biography

32-year old Mohammad Ayub had to wait for a long time before making his first international appearance for Pakistan in a Test against Sri Lanka in 2012. The right-hand middle-order batsman had played as many as 93 first-class games but was still somehow just an inch away from the national team.

Making his first-class debut in the 2001-02 season, Ayub represented Sialkot in the domestic setup and was an instant success, scoring heavily for three consecutive seasons. In the 2011-12 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, the talented batsman finished with more than 1000 runs at a staggering average of 66.55 and was since then on the fringes of the Pakistan team. Consequently, he was selected to represent the Sialkot Stallions in their maiden appearance at the 2012 Champions League T20.
