Australia won their first ever World Cup in 1987. In 1999, they equalled the West Indies by winning it a second time. In 2003, they set a new record by winning their third trophy. In 2007, they became the first team to complete a hat-trick of World Cups.

They have won the World Cup twice more since then, in 2015 and 2023, to stretch their record to six. No other team has won the trophy more than twice.
