At Sydney in the 1891/92 Ashes, George Giffen caught Gregor MacGregor and William Attewell off his own bowling, off consecutive balls. The feat was repeated by Albert Trott in the 1894/95 Ashes and then by Jimmy Matthews in 1912. Matthews, in fact, caught Reggie Schwarz and Tommy Ward to become the first (and till date, only) bowler to complete two hat-tricks in the same Test. More than a century later, in 2024, Jomel Warrican joined this trinity at Port of Spain.
