The three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh, set to begin on May 28 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, will be conducted without the Decision Review System (DRS).

According to multiple reports, sources within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have confirmed that DRS won't be available for the series.

Why DRS won't be used in PAK vs BAN T20Is?

The unavailability of DRS has been attributed to the absence of the technical staff responsible for its operation. The crew involved in handling the system did not return after the resumption of the Pakistan Super League in mid-May, leading to the remainder of the tournament being played without the technology.

Both the IPL and the PSL had been suspended after the first week of May as cross-border tensions between the two nations rose. After a ceasefire was agreed upon, the two tournaments began on May 17 again, but without the return of several overseas players.

Along with them, the DRS crew decided not to travel to Pakistan for the last eight games of the edition. The absence of technology was felt in the final, after Quetta Gladiators skipper Saud Shakeel was wrongly adjudged caught-behind despite a visible gap as the ball passed the bat. The DRS, meanwhile, was available for the remaining games in the IPL.

With the HawkEye team not returning for the Bangladesh T20Is, technology will not be implemented for any of the matches in Lahore, scheduled on May 28, May 30, and June 1. The Bangladesh team has been informed of the situation, and the matches will proceed as planned.

Originally planned as a five-match series, the T20I series has been shortened to three games due to the PSL concluding a week later than scheduled. This rescheduling also means that Faisalabad will have a longer wait to host international cricket. The city was originally set to host the first two matches, having last hosted a game 17 years ago in 2008.
