Rehan Ahmed followed his innings-rescuing century against Derbyshire with a six-wicket haul to bowl the home side out for under 200 on Day Two of the County Championship fixture.
The young England leggie scored a counter-attacking century from No.3 yesterday (July 22), continuing his successful summer with the bat. Rehan has now scored four Championship centuries this season, having been promoted up the order at the start of the summer. His average for the season now reads 47.30, with a strike rate of 74.09. He is also Leicestershire's second-leading run scorer in red-ball cricket this year.
Rehan's hundred was one of three in the visiting side's first innings, and came after they were at one point 0-2. Along with Lewis Hill, Rehan steered the team towards safety, and by the time he was dismissed, they were 169-2. Hill hit a century of his own, while Peter Handscomb also reached three figures from No.5, to take the total on to 360-3. However, a collapse saw them dismissed for 398. Remarkably, no batter apart from the three centurions reached double figures in the innings.
Rehan Ahmed, who scored 115 - his fourth ton of this County Championship - against Derbyshire in the first innings, followed it up with a six-wicket haul in the second.

A sensational all-round season for him 🎉 pic.twitter.com/99bUDHehVf
Having played a starring role with the bat, Rehan played just as big a part with the ball. After a century stand for the second wicket between Caleb Jewell and Harry Came, Rehan dismissed Came when he mistimed a ball to Ian Holland on the edge of the ring. In his next over, he struck again with the wicket of Wayne Madsen, and then made it three wickets in three overs when he pinned Jewell in his next.
Aneurin Donald was his next victim, caught behind by Peter Handscomb, before Luis Reece fell clean bowled to give Rehan his five-for. It's Rehan's fist five-for of the season, and almost doubled his wicket tally. He hasn't been called on to bowl often across the year so far, having bowled just over 60 overs in the season before today, largely used to lop off the tail. His numbers are exceptional, however, averaging 16.07.
Derbyshire were all out for 189, with Rehan's end of innings figures reading 6-51 off 20 overs. They trail Leicestershire by 209 going into the second innings.
