Former India Test opener Mayank Agarwal scored an important century for Yorkshire during his first appearance at Headingley, helping Yorkshire's chances in their race to avoid County Championship elimination.
Yorkshire are playing Durham in the final round of the County Championship, with both sides seeking to secure places in Division One next year. Yorkshire were the better placed side going into the fixture, and a win for them would put Durham into a tricky spot to get out of, while a loss would put Yorkshire in the danger zone.
Durham scored 346 in their first innings, with Ben Raine scoring a crucial century from No.8. He scored 101 runs off 105 balls, coming in when Durham were 203-6. Earlier in the innings, South Africa international David Bedingham had scored 93 off 195 balls, with Will Rhodes also reaching a half-century. Jack White eventually finished off the innings with a hard-earned five-for.

In response, Yorkshire lost opener Finlay Bean in the seventh over of the innings, trapped lbw by Raine. That brought Mayank out at three. From there, he put on a 127-run partnership with Adam Lyth, both of them reaching half-centuries – Mayank reaching his with a lofted drive down the ground. After Lyth was dismissed for 69, Mayank carried on to reach three figures. With James Wharton and Jonny Bairstow falling in consecutive overs, Mayank stayed firm as the anchor, passing 150 in the evening session as Yorkshire made progress towards first innings parity.
Mayank signed for Yorkshire for their final three rounds of the 2025 County Championship. He was out for a duck in his first innings in Taunton, before scoring 26 and another duck in their penultimate fixture against Sussex.
Mayank played 21 Test matches for India, the last of which came in 2022, with an average of 41.33. A streak of low scores brought his run in the side to an end after India's series against Sri Lanka that year. He toured England twice with India's Test side, in 2021-22 and for the World Test Championship final in 2023. Since then, he was part of RCB's title-winning campaign this year, having replaced Devdutt Padikkal.
