England sealed a 3-0 whitewash over West Indies, with a seven-wicket victory at The Oval on Tuesday (June 3). Here are the updated ODI team rankings after the result.
The start of third ODI between the sides was delayed as the West Indies team bus was held up by London traffic. When it did get underway, Harry Brook won the toss and put West Indies in to bat.
The innings was interrupted by rain after the 15th over, reducing the match to 40 overs a side. West Indies eventually posted 251-9, thanks to 70 from the returning Sherfane Rutherford, and stellar efforts from Gudakesh Motie (63) and Alzarri Joseph (41) from No.s 8 and 9.
England's batters then put on a show, chasing down a DLS-adjusted target of 246 in just 29.4 overs. Jamie Smith, opening for only the third time in ODIs got the ball rolling with 64 off 28, before Ben Duckett (58), Joe Root (44), Harry Brook (26*) and Jos Buttler (41*) saw them over the line.

West Indies slip closer towards danger in ODI rankings
Before this series got underway, England were eighth in the ODI rankings, with 84 points – just one ahead of West Indies in ninth. These three games were crucial for both sides, as far as the 2027 World Cup is concerned. Slipping to tenth place in the rankings would deny either side automatic qualification, meaning they would have to play the Qualifier ahead of the main tournament.
The comprehensive 3-0 win, with wins in Cardiff and Birmingham before last night, means England have put significant distance between themselves and West Indies. They remain eighth, but with a rating of 88, to West Indies' 77 now.

For the Men in Maroon, the situation is starting to look rather more precarious. They are now just one rating point ahead of Bangladesh in 10th, and another run of poor results coupled with a string of good ones for the Tigers could spell trouble.
West Indies missed out on automatic qualification for the last World Cup in 2023, before missing the tournament altogether as Sri Lanka and Netherlands took the two available spots from the Global Qualifier.
