The T20 World Cup 2026 group stage started with 20 teams, and we are down to eight in the Super Eights. Here are the favourites to make the final from hereon.

Zimbabwe were the biggest surprise from the group stage, beating Australia and Sri Lanka on their way to the next round by finishing atop Group B. Australia, meanwhile, were knocked out after losing to both these teams.

England were run close by Nepal before losing to West Indies to start their campaign, but wins over Scotland and Italy took them to the Super Eights. Afghanistan lost to both South Africa and New Zealand, both of whom made the next round, to begin the tournament and were knocked out. Pakistan lost to India but won their other three games rather comfortably.

India, South Africa, West Indies and Zimbabwe went unbeaten through the group stage, and have all been clubbed in Group 1 of Super Eights due to the pre-seedings. New Zealand, Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka constitute Group 2. The top two sides from both the groups will qualify for the semifinals.

T20 World Cup: Who are the favourites to reach the finals?

The bookies favour India at 12/25 on BetGoodwin to finish in the top two of their Super Eights group and qualify for the semifinals, and then go on to reach the final. South Africa are the second favourites in this respect, with odds of 13/8, followed by England (12/5) and New Zealand (13/5).

New Zealand’s road to the Super Eights wasn’t very smooth, with a heavy defeat against the Proteas, but with a group full of second-placed teams, they could finish in the top two. England, too, haven’t been clinical enough, but they have the firepower to beat the best teams.

A rematch of the 2024 T20 World Cup final between South Africa and India is the most likely to happen this time as well, as per the bookies, with odds of 29/10. An England vs India final has the second-best odds (9/2), followed by New Zealand vs India (5/1). India vs Pakistan (7/1) final, who also met in the decider of the inaugural edition, and India vs Sri Lanka (10/1) are next on the list.

T20 World Cup: Who are the favourites to win the tournament?

India are the bookies’ favourites to win the tournament, with odds at 21/20 on BetGoodwin. South Africa have been backed at 15/4 and are the second-likeliest to come out on top, followed by England with odds at 13/2 and New Zealand (15/2).

Though India have had their fair share of issues so far in the World Cup, they still look well stacked up to go all the way, unless they have a rare off day, like at the 2023 World Cup final. South Africa played Afghanistan in a match of the tournament, where they came out on top after two Super Overs, but otherwise had smooth sailing.
