Australia have announced a 15-member squad for the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup starting September 30.
Litchfield earns maiden 50-over World Cup call-up
22-year-old talented batter Phoebe Litchfield earned her maiden call-up to the Women’s World Cup, having been part of Australia’s 2024 T20 World Cup semi-final run previously. She produced a Player of the Tournament performance in the Northern Superchargers’ title-winning campaign in the 2025 Women’s Hundred, scoring 292 runs at an average of 41.71 and a strike-rate of 157.83 – the highest among all batters.
Her ability to score runs at a brisk pace has also translated to international cricket; she is one of only two Full Member batters in women’s T20Is to score at least 400 runs at a strike-rate of 140-plus since her debut in December 2022. Since her women’s ODI debut just a month later, her eight fifties are the most by any Australian batter.
Molineux returns after knee surgery
Left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux has returned to the squad after an injury hiatus. Molineux underwent knee surgery in January and went on to miss the majority of Australia’s international matches. However, she is unlikely to play the three-match ODI series against India preceding the tournament, which begins on September 14.
"Sophie Molineux is progressing well in her return from a knee injury, and we anticipate she'll be available for the World Cup," Australia team physio Kate Beerworth said.

As backup for Molineux in the bilateral series, to be held in New Chandigarh and Delhi, uncapped spinner Charli Knott has been included in the squad alongside wicketkeeper Nicole Faltum.
Captain Alyssa Healy has recovered from iniury, having made a successful return to action with 242 runs from three matches at an average of 121.00 and a strike rate of 126.70 for Australia A against India A last month.
Fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck was not selected as she has not recovered in time from shoulder surgery. All-rounders Heather Graham and Tess Flintoff were the two other Cricket Australia-contracted players to miss out.
The current champions begin their title defence against New Zealand on October 1 in Indore.
