In a last-minute change, Navi Mumbai has replaced Bengaluru as one of the Indian venues for the 2025 Women’s World Cup.
When the initial schedule was announced, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was selected as a venue for the 2025 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup. It was supposed to host the curtain-raiser between hosts India and Sri Lanka on September 30, along with up to four more fixtures.
The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai has now replaced the Bengaluru venue due to the latter's unavailability. Along with the curtain-raiser, Navi Mumbai will also host England vs South Africa on October 3, India vs Bangladesh on October 26, the second semi-final on October 30, and potentially the final on November 2.
Depending on whether Pakistan qualify, the final will be held either in Colombo or Navi Mumbai. A similar bi-venue arrangement has also been made for the first semi-final, which Pakistan are pre-seeded to play should they reach the knockouts. If they qualify, R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will host that match; otherwise, it will be played at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati.
"Navi Mumbai has emerged as a genuine home for women’s cricket in recent years," ICC chair Jay Shah said in a statement.
"The support it has received during international fixtures and the Women’s Premier League has been remarkable, creating an atmosphere that elevates the players and inspires fans. I am certain that the same energy will define the big matches of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup as it returns to India after 12 years."
The Holkar Stadium in Indore and ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam are the other two Indian venues which will host the tournament.

The last-minute venue change comes after growing uncertainty over the use of Chinnaswamy Stadium following the stampede-like situation that resulted in multiple deaths and injuries after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their first IPL title this year. Since then, the BCCI have removed their international home matches from the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The latest snub was that the Maharaja T20 Trophy, Karnataka State Cricket Association’s (KSCA) premier domestic T20 tournament, was shifted to the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadeyar Ground in Mysuru. According to ESPNcricinfo, the KSCA failed to obtain clearance from the Bengaluru police to stage the tournament at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
