Shadman Islam was dismissed by Bumrah on the second day of the Chennai Test

Watch: Jasprit Bumrah set up Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam beautifully, bowling outswingers from over the wicket, before jagging one back in to take his off stump on day two of the India-Bangladesh Chennai Test.

In India's first Test series since March, Bumrah produced a corker to dismiss Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam in his first over of the Chennai Test.

Bumrah started from over the wicket to the left-hander, bowling into the body with an angle, and making the ball move away from Shadman. He bowled five deliveries at Shadman, before switching his angle and coming in from around the wicket.

The left-hander – expecting more outswing – shouldered arms to the final delivery, but watched in horror as the ball jagged back in after pitching. It grazed his thigh pad and hit the top of off stump.

A closer look at his grip revealed that Bumrah was actually looking for another delivery that moved away from the batter, but it hit the pitch and kicked back in to give the India quick his 160th Test wicket.

Former Bangladesh Test opener Tamim Iqbal, on commentary, pointed out that Shadman had a strange tendency to hop on his crease when a delivery was pitched on the leg stump, with replays showing that both his feet were in the air when negotiating Bumrah from over the wicket. "I think it was a tactical mistake", Tamim later said, "he kept the same guard when Bumrah came around the wicket".

Earlier, India's innings wrapped up on 376, losing four wickets for 31 runs from their overnight score. Interestingly, all ten wickets were caught dismissals.
